Verthica

Verthica was a lizardfolk ranger who was a member of the original party that slew the white wolf Weisserfang. Verthica survived the perils of Death House  but would nearly die at the hands of Yuri Kalanikov when Yuri's deception that brought the party into Barovia was discovered. In his anger he struck at Yuri, but in his weakened state Yuri was able to knock him unconscious. Verthica lived and would have some camraderie with Vengeance  as the only two survivors of Death House 
Verthica would join the quest to escort Ireena Kolyana to Vallaki and got into and out of a number of scrapes along the way.
His luck would not hold out forever, as he would perish on the road to the Wizard of Wines Winery when the party encountered a creature of fog and darkness. The party's new friend Mahadi  would offer to revivify Verthica, but no one was willing to pay their soul to do so. Thus it came to pass that Verthica's soul would pass into the mists of Barovia, where Mahadi explained it would be trapped in the vicious Barovian cycle of souls.
