Ireena Kolyana

After arriving through the mists and surviving the Death House , the party met Ismark Kolyanovich at the Blood of the Vine Tavern . Ismark saw in them people who might be able and willing to help him, and he invited the party to his table, where he explained that the local lord of the land, Strahd von Zarovich, had been making unwanted advances towards his sister Ireena, launching assaults upon their residence which culminated in the death of their father, Kolyan Indirovich whose poor health could not take it anymore. Ismark recruited the party to escort his sister out of the Village of Barovia and to the town of Vallaki.
With the offer of both payment and lodging, the party agreed and they met Ireena at her family's estate. They discovered she was quite headstrong, refusing to leave until their father's body was buried and not convinced as her brother was that she would be safe in Vallaki. After the funeral of Kolyan Indirovich, Ireena and Ismark left with the party, both fighting alongside them as they traveled down the dangerous road. Ireena took a shine to the party, who refused to back down when confronted by Strahd and his minions. She was even more impressed by the cool competence of Vengeance and the two struck up a close friendship. Ireena threw herself into learning everything she could from Vengeance, and soon she was displaying a power that could keep her safe, the eldritch blasts that Vengeance had used to great effect.
Having arrived in Vallaki, Ireena was offput by how strange the town, and especially its burgomaster, were. Putting off the decision on whether to stay in Vallaki or not, Ireena now continues her travels with the party and with two companions who enjoy her full confidence, her brother Ismark on one side and her mentor Vengeance on the other. Together they have freed the Wizard of Wine Winery from the forest folk, cut down the evil Gulthias Tree, and even now are plotting to get involved in the power struggle amongst the upper echelons of Vallakian society.
