A victim of mismanagement and antiquated equipment, this dying concern employs a few dozen Southside immigrants.
Delfino Sirico is one of the many Italian immigrants who live in Southside, though he works at the New Jerusalem Worsted Mills in Easttown. His English isn’t great, though it is improving, and that often results in people underestimating his intelligence. Delfino knows that the mills are dying and that it’s only a matter of time before they go out of business completely, so he’s getting desperate to get a job elsewhere. He knows that improving his English enough is perhaps the best way of opening up new job prospects, and he is conscientiously trying to improve it as much as possible.
