First Unitarian Church of New Jerusalem - 656 Federal Street
The church and its records date back to 1778, but the present brick building was constructed in 1875. Dr. Willet Spencer is the minister and presides over the church. The church has a large religious and historical library that includes locked-away among its rare volumes a strange tome called the Book of Dzyan.
The church basement may be rented out to anyone for a fee of $20.00/ day, or $10.00 daily for members of the congregation. Easily the most liberal and free-thinking of the recognized churches in New Jerusalem, the Unitarians host an open service for non-religious but spiritual individuals the first Wednesday evening of every month and sponsor several talks a year on various, sometimes unconventional, aspects of spirituality and metaphysics.
