Hiram the Junkman - 211 N East St

Hiram, about 60, makes daily rounds of New Jerusalem in his wagon. His horse, Nessie, wears a hat with holes cut for her ears. As they plod along alleys and back streets, he is ever-vigilant for sellables; he also hauls trash to the dump for a small fee.   In the 40-odd-years he's ridden the byways of the town, he has witnessed many strange things and found even stranger things in certain people's trash, which he may remember for a small fee. He also knows some details of local criminal operations, and his regular inspection of folks' garbage tells him who the best customers are.   The junkman, while friendly, always poses as a dolt. Whether or not one can get anything out of him depends on one's skillful persuasion. He has a special fondness for peach brandy and friendly company; perhaps an evening with him could be well-spent.
