Beacon of Hope Settlement House - 608 E River St

A Baptist charity for the destitute, a person can shelter here until finding work. One room is for men, and another is for women. Prayers, supper, a blanket, and a cot are provided. This makes a good, if unappealing, hide-out, though the police occasionally inspect here to learn who's new.   Clarence Holt is currently living in the Beacon of Hope Settlement House, which allows people to stay until they find work. Clarence isn’t planning on staying at the place that long, but neither is he planning to find a job. He uses such places as temporary places to stay when he’s in a town for work, work that he will not tell anyone about because he’s supposed to be out of work, and what he does is not legal. This name isn’t his real one, either. Clarence knows that the police sometimes look through such places to see who’s staying, so he makes sure he’s never around for too long.
