Seasway Resort, Jason's Early Years

Jason Garamund’s family owned an exclusive seaside hotel,Seasway Resort Hotel near the beach in Oldfaire for a very long time. When a flood destroyed the city, it too destroyed the hotel and the mineral springs spa. Claimants did not submit evidence of a fire, but Franklin fire insurance claims compensated the family’s building losses. Oldfaire officials ignored unchecked corruption, and Jason, comfortable taking the proceeds, accepted his share. Siblings disbursed the insurance proceeds equally, but it took only a few months for squabbles to begin. One squabble started over an investment in a pulp fiction publishing company. The automaton press, an invention built by Jason Garamund, was not part of the initial project, nor in its inventory.

An unidentified assailant shot Jason's wife while she was walking across a busy street one evening coming home from work. Witnesses made claims about the incident. Was Cathaleen Garamund shot intentionally or accidentally in the crossfire between rival department store managers? Jason was determined to prove it was the former, and that the shot came from his brother Hank’s gun. But Hank’s gun was nowhere to be found. Cathaleen Garamund survived the shooting. “Only a graze,” said the doctors. A graze that never healed. A year later, the long suffering Cathaleen died. Prosecutors never filed charges against Hank, and Jason bought an aging manor house in Hollow Hills near to a lighthouse that should protect him from the bleed that seeps through the flare.

Drumkeeploch Manor House Years

Jason's decision to renovate his barn into a manor house came about after the Six Years War. The property was purchased by his father, who loved to fish and spend time exploring the caves, located nearby. Three mist covered islands were never reached by his father, who planned to visit them before he died. Jason has only been there once. On a beautiful day he celebrated his only daughter's birthday on the island farthest away. He took one look away from the whereabouts of his daughter. She disappeared. The entire family and the Periphery looked through the murky waters for her drowned body, but no body was recovered. That was 27 years ago. When the search was called off, he never went back. He calls them the cursed islands that remind him to never look the other way. Two years ago, he built a tower near his home, and he met a young man who showed an interest in the islands. Jason suspects he lost someone there too. But hasn't yet talked with him about the sorrow they share.   It is no wonder that Jason Garamund, a long time member of a Fairelands Candela Obscura Circle, decided to gather together his friends, Dr. Dean Quincey and Professor Elizabeth Ogden to start a chapter in Crooked Mile. It's been slow going. Inviting mostly students from Briar College Annex who share their values and a few community members they met during the last two years.

Jason met Dr. Dean Quincey when he opened his clinic. He is a good friend, who encourages Jason to turn over his duties to a new Lightkeeper he can trust. While Timothy Lignon is an excellent choice, Timothy feels he is better off being a secretive member of the society. In truth the Circle is a secret society, but their membership is known by how they address phenomena and paranormal incidents. Jason promised his Circle that a Lightkeeper will join soon. An investigation, particularly difficult to resove, will interest the best person for the leadership role. He will be happy to retire to fishing, experimenting with technology and reading arcane tomes.

Drumkeeploch Cirsea Isles, Coming Years
Jason is eventually retired to the Conclave of Luminosity where he will live beyond the flare. Stange as this seems; housing the founder and loyal member of the Crooked Mile Circle where magickal phenomena is stored, it is an honor and dying wish that he live there with his late wife Cathaleen.
