Ellie-Ellen and her sister, Dr. Elizabeth Ogden both live on the upper floor of the house. It was Elizabeth's idea they build the bakery. Journalists from the Crooked Mile Gazette frequent the bakery. It is an important place for them to find the gossip that could turn into a story. Melody RiceRice visits the baker at least once every day. She lives at the boarding house, but drinks her tea at the bakery. Feeling sympathy for her, Ellie often shares her day old breads and pastries with her. Lizzie doesn’t particularly like this idea, because she is sure that Melody is trying to find out why the Circle is investigating. And she is sure that she shares whatever gossip is she not using. Ellie-Ellen enjoys Melody’s company. Ellie is always ready to listen.

Ellie-Ellen was nominated to the Valley's administrative committee, Stewards of BenevolenceEllie was appointed to her position in 1904, before the official formation of the Valley's governing group. Her duty as secretary involves collaborating with Cyril Potter. Cyril and Ellie have a long-standing friendship and a complicated, on-again, off-again romantic relationship. Her involvement with the Crooked Mile Circle is one of the differences. Cyril is cautious and occasionally disagrees with the secret society's methods of eliminating corruption in the valley. He is a pragmatic individual who rejects unexplained occurrences. Unbeknownst to him, Ellie-Ellen is a skilled alchemist.
