United Halfling States of Dunreen
Structure
The central leader of the United Halfling States of Dunreen is the Chancellor. The Chancellor is the main voice in the Halfling parliament and is the figurehead of the UHSD. Though, the Chancellor is not the decision maker of the Government; 24 mayors that represent each of the 24 states of the UHSD work together do decide on new laws, and decisions they should take to maintain control of their inhabitants and economy democratically.
The UHSD is split into 24 states, each of these sections either consist of large islands, or a central main island and several smaller islands surrounding it within a close proximity. The inhabitants of each island group vote for a new mayor every year. The mayor is in charge of most trade and island-centred laws. Three times a year the mayor would report to Dunreen for general updates and new laws relating to the UHSD; if there is a major emergency, the parliament can be called for more times, where they would remain in Dunreen until the problem is solved or for a month before returning.

History
Before the Split, halflings were rarely spotted beyond the clover hills, due to their love for the comforts of home and having to tend to their land that had been in their family for centuries. Only the few, more adventurous, halflings dared to venture beyond the boundaries created by the Gods in the ancient times to protect the first halflings from the dangers of the rest of the world. However, the Split caused these hills to collapse in great numbers, mainly around the state of Gougon; this made it far easier for people, both halfling and otherwise, to travel in and out of halfling territory.
Dannad Cherrycheeks, the most respected halfling of the southern stouts felt that without an official body, settlers from all over the other side of the hills would come flooding in, taking all of their lands. So he, and members of his family, travelled around the whole of the newly formed archipelago on a diplomatic mission to unite all of the families. Within 5 years, he managed to persuade 17 other families to join him in making a government, with only a handful of the northern halfling families either deciding to stay neutral or outright refusing to join.
Demography and Population
There are several types of species spread out through the UHSD. However, the population is almost all made of the two variants of Halfling (these being lightfoot and stout Halflings). Stout Halflings are generally found in the southern potions of the territory, surrounding the Clover Hills, because they are the only group of halflings who have been able to adapt to the harsher weather. The lightfoot halflings are mostly found in the centre to north-western portions of the territory.
Other species such as gnomes and humans are far less common in the UHSD, and are usually only found in the centre of the territory surrounding the ports of Greater Dunreen.
Territories
The only controlled territories owned by the UHSD is the Dunren Archipelago, a group of islands that have been in their home since the dawn of their species.

The halfling people are not a prominent military-based nation, the closets thing they have to a military is the Halfling Watch
