Government

The Clover Hills belongs to a small group of islands, though many refer to the Clover Hills as the largest of the islands. The main island is where all the main trading, farming and politics happen. The inhabitants vote for a new mayor every year. The mayor is in charge of most trade and island-centred laws. These rules cover the main island and the three smaller islands to the north-east of it. Three times a year the mayor would report to Dunreen for general updates and new laws relating to the UHSD; if there is a major emergency, the parliament can be called for more times, where they would remain in Dunreen until the problem is solved or for a month.   Minor arguments are settled by the elders of the families involved, the mayor and their advisors are only involved if the argument grows into something that may effect the whole island.

Industry & Trade

Clover Hills is the main producer of pigs and hogs. They are home to one of the most famous livestock farming families, the Highhills. The island does also have some smaller elements of agriculture, though they are usually only used in the case of the lack of trade income.

History

During the War of the Split, the Clover Hills and parts of their surrounding area played a great part in the halfling front of the war. Mostly they provided dried meat to the soldiers on the front line, but when the now famed halfling warrior, Merric Highhill proposed that they should use their large supply of strong hogs as a halfling cavalry unit. The idea lead onto many other regions of the UHSD to also bring in their own units of halfling forces. However, the Clover Hills remained one of the main contributors to the hog rider battalions. During the split lots of the hills facing the more south-western parts of the UHSD were destroyed and turned into the sprawling southern mudflats.   After the split things slowly returned to as close to normal as they could get. Life had to adjusted for the new way of trade using oceans to transport their produce. For the next few years, life was fairly uneventful for the residents of the Clover Hills and the few much smaller islands under its jurisdiction. In 31 PR, their mayor they had at the time turned out to be a demon; with the help of the Knights of Braveheart they got rid of her and then consequently had to hold off an entire confederacy invasion.

Architecture

Being a farming settlement, most of the houses in the village are made with locally sourced stone walls and thatch roofs. After the Split larger buildings like the tavern and town hall were constructed, these are made of larger stone and clay bricks that were imported from the Republic.
