Prosperity DMZ
We were on the edges of Prosperity City, on a grid locked freeway, trying to escape the incoming battle. We could see the Citadel from so far away, arcs of energy carving up the ground underneath. Then it started to tip, we all got out and started running. Not certain where we were going. People were getting trampled.
I tried not to look back, but I could see from the shadows thrown there was a real bright light. Then this wall of dirt came down the freeway, flipping cars. Everyone stopped and looked then, a collective holding of breath, like a deer in the headlights. We could see the stripmalls in the distance pulled up and flung into the sky. Office parks collapsing into themselves. As it caught us, my mom threw me under a truck and covered me with her body.
Not certain how we survived that, but my mom was never quite right after that. She kept seeing things right until she passed, forgetting people or thinking they were things they weren't. You could say it was dimentia but there were so many details that never changed. Sometimes she knew secrets about people they had never told anyone. When she passed, she told me that the end of the world was catching up with us, that it had already started. I could tell from the look in her eyes it was true.

History
After the dust from the Trinity War settled, what remained of the peninsula was devastated. What little was left of the suburbs that surround old Prosperity City were flattened by the shockware. The associated tremors destroyed the existing infrastructure. The population, those that survived both the war and the disaster, fled to the smaller towns in the Rustbucket for some sense of sanity.
When the treaty was laid down by the Covenant Prince of Prosperity, nobody returned to rebuild the city. There was a general unease generated by the Dirth. Dirthstorms rolled off the lake, raining lightning and causing nosebleeds and migranes.
Prosperity City was never rebuilt. The area known as the DMZ is technically the territory of the Terminal City Security Forces. No effort has been made to rebuild the area, other than South Transfer station, which the TCSF use as a waystation for incoming goods in order to prevent any sort of Covenant presence in the City.
Geography
The DMZ extends to the edges of old Prosperity City, where the Barony territory lines lie. Only ruins exist within the boundries.
