Occupation: Inventor and Tinkerer, Former Antiquities Assistant to House Skatterhawk
Age: 21
Appearance
Lizbet Riverthorn is a young woman of medium build with chestnut-brown hair often tied back in a messy braid. Her hazel eyes gleam with intelligence and curiosity, and her hands are perpetually smudged with soot or oil from her work. She wears a patchwork of practical clothing reinforced with leather and metal—a testament to her trade as an artificer. A small pair of goggles always rests atop her head, and she carries a well-worn satchel filled with tools, sketches, and spare parts.
Background
Lizbet is the daughter of Holfast Riverthorn, a prominent antiquities dealer employed by House Skatterhawk . Growing up, she was immersed in the world of forgotten relics and ancient artifacts. While her father focused on appraising and trading these treasures, Lizbet was more interested in understanding how they worked. Her natural aptitude for invention led her to pursue the path of an artificer, blending arcane knowledge with engineering to create tools, weapons, and devices.
Her life took an unexpected turn when she met Lucky Lyle Sunnyside, a charismatic halfling bard and rogue, during his travels through Espar. Lizbet fell deeply in love with him, enchanted by his wit and charm. However, her heart was shattered when Lucky abruptly left town, leaving her with no explanation. Only later did she learn the truth: her father had discovered their budding relationship and threatened Lucky, forcing him to leave. This revelation, while painful, softened her anger toward Lucky, though it did little to repair the emotional wound.
Personality
Lizbet is intelligent, resourceful, and fiercely independent. Her experiences have made her wary of trusting others, but once her loyalty is earned, it is unwavering. She possesses a sharp tongue and a wry sense of humor, often using sarcasm as a defense mechanism. Despite her hardships, she remains driven by a desire to make the world better through her inventions, believing that knowledge and innovation can overcome any obstacle.
Notable Events
- Frontline Heroism in Minroe:
During the attack of the Harbinger of Destruction, Lizbet was stationed on the front line, mending barricades and creating improvised defenses to protect the townsfolk. Her courage and ingenuity saved many lives, but she was ultimately slain during the final onslaught. - Miraculous Resurrection:
After the battle, Lizbet’s body was discovered amidst the wreckage. To the astonishment of those present, a Raise Dead spell was cast on her, though no one could identify the caster. The experience left her shaken, as she retains fragmented memories of her time in death - a grinning spectre radiating despair, claws around her neck, preventing her from going to Tymora. She has since vowed to make the most of her second chance at life.
Current Role
Following her resurrection, Lisbet has become more introspective and determined to honor the life she was given back. She is torn between returning to her work for House Skatterhawk and pursuing her own path as an inventor and adventurer. While her feelings for Lucky remain unresolved, she is no longer the same woman he left behind; she has grown stronger and more self-reliant.
