The Majaran Palace

Landor’s ancient, but rebuilt and refurbished imperial palace. The palace consists of a walled compound containing the main palace, stables, workshops and armories. The compound between the outer wall and the main building is a three story, rectangular granite structure built around a large interior courtyard. Each corner of the palace has a large tower rising to six stories with a blue tile roof. In the middle of the Eastern side of the palace is the Grand Tower, with a wide base standing three stories tall, a middle three stories with about two thirds the diameter of the base and the pinnacle of a further three stories that are half the diameter of the base. The Grand Tower contains the palace library, the throne room and various function spaces. The courtyard of the main building is filled by the palace garden. The garden is surrounded by a two story cloister topped by an open balcony protected by cloth awnings. The roof of the third floor is angled outward at a fairly steep angle so it will shed snow and rain away from the inner courtyard. The palace’s extensive cellars contain the royal baths, armories, a treasure room and extensive storerooms. The top level of the palace is made up the royal apartments, the second floor is split between function spaces like the Feasting Hall and Ball Room all situated on the Western side and the Royal Guard Barracks on the Eastern side. The Royal Guard barracks are divided between those of the Royal Guard, the Queens’ Guards and the Crown Princesses Guard. All the Guards units fall under the command Lady Klonna, the Captain of the Imperial Guard. The first floor of the palace is mainly given over to offices and other spaces used by the royal government.
