The Crown and Scepter

The Crown and Scepter is considered the best of Karmis' waterfront inns. The inn caters to sea nobles, sea captains, high ranking military officers and well-to-do merchants. The inn has a reputation for excellent food, a wide selection of wine and well-appointed rooms. The inn draws quality entertainers including musicians, tavern dancers and bards. High class courtesans are often seen here, but low end entertainers of all sorts are quickly shown the door. Local legend has it that Queen Floret was a tavern dancer here before she tried her fortune at the Imperial Court.

Purpose / Function

The inn is primarily in the business of providing quality food and lodgings. The Voris family, which owns the inn, will also offer valued customers same storage for their personal effects.

Architecture

This is a well built stone building with a central courtyard with stables and storage on the street facing side. The other three wings are oriented towards the inns customers. The inn's main floor is broken into three large common rooms appointed with well made wooden furniture and leaded glass windows. The central room provides a relatively quiet dining area. The eastern room is more of a bar with tavern dancers and musicians performing here from early evening to late into the night. The western room is also an entertainment venue where storytellers, actors and magicians. The upper stories include regular guest rooms on the second floor and suites on the third floor. The staff and the owners family live on the third floor of the stable wing. The building features heavy wooden shutters and sturdy doors on all its rooms.

History

The inn opened some 70 years. Originally it only consisted of the central wing and a surrounding wall with a few out buildings. The inn was steadily rebuilt adding new wings around the walled court.
