The Crystal Tree
A great crystalline tree, housed hundreds of feet underground in the The Arboris Ruins. The tree, seemingly grown from a pale crystal, glows with a soft blue light, illuminating the massive chamber it resides in.
The tree bears no leaves or fruit, but judging by its size compared to the size of its room, it does appear to have grown a significant amount since it was originally planted, and its roots have tunneled through much of the floor, causing the otherwise flawless architecture to become crooked and broken.
History
The Crystal Tree was once a major research curiosity which both inspired and befuddled the people of Coralous for generations. An unknown event in 4714, wherein the Tree was being carved up by a group of ancient automatons, prompted action by The Zettersberg Four under the direction of Pelleador Goffianno and Andre Athanasiou. The Tree was saved by their efforts, but the ruins around the Tree were sealed behind them. Concerned that taking actions that might be seen as invasive by whatever functions resealed the ruins, Pelleador Goffianno has placed a moratorium on disturbing the ruins while he and his scholars look into the recently uncovered secrets of the ancients that he believes may be responsible for the Tree's creation.
