The Templars

Everyone must have heard of the Templars; the popular culture and history is full of mentions of them and the whole order is tightly shrouded in mystery. Yet, there is something else than just holy grails and secret societies about them, in the history of World Magic Organization - WMO, especially.

Public Agenda

In London and United Kingdom they were the predecessor of The Royal Society Publishing. They kept the peace between the magical folk and the normal folk who weren't 'in the know' of things.

History

The Templars were an important order which laid foundation for the finding of the The Royal Society Publishing in The United Kingdom more than 300 years after their initial disbandment. After the Knights Templars were driven out of The UK, their temple church was given to another holy order to take care for. The Knights Hospitaler stayed and took care of the Temple church and all the responsibilities left by their brothers in faith.
In 1530 The Church became the property of the Crown again. A Power vacuum had born, when there were nothing to keep the 'evil' at bay. Those were the wild, free years for all the magical creatures; London was an exotic traveling place for the fey, the feud between the werewolves and the vampires escalated, and even the ordinary people had to live in fear. The restless times slowly produced a real need for the policing of the magical kind and in 1660 the Royal Society was established. Not everyone was happy about it: It is said that the Great Fire of London in 1666 was due to a revolt of the magical folk. Slowly yet surely people began to trust in the new faction.

Disbandment

The Decline of The Templars is tightly tied to the crusades and to the end of them. They had no use anymore for keeping peace in The Christian world and were disbanded in 1312. They left London in care of their brothers in faith, The Knights Hospitaller.
