The Albion Chronicle

These are the writings of the chronicles of Albion, written by Pontius of Silver Towne and other chroniclers who followed him. In ordinance of King Percen the Wise's instruction, we have continued this chronicle even after his death to preserve the history of the Albion people. That of which are the Kells of Lisanricia.

The Alliance of the Albion Cities

In the years before 4300, a single Dwarf King ruled over all the lands of Lisanricia, named Nordlieften the Fourteenth. He was powerful, making much gold from his mines within the Golden City. It was this power that allowed him to have the Kells of Lisanricia under his demand. But tensions grew as King Nordlieften began to grow afraid of the political developments in the Gothlands, learning that the men of Gotha rebelled against their Dwarven Lords under a valiant knight named Percival. So Nordlieften doubled his efforts to try and keep the men of Albion from open rebellion, and sought to strike first before his subjects could.   Thus the dwarven armies of the golden cities sailed down the Silver River and came to the town of Silver to secure his holdings. The Petty King of Ellis, Percen the Red, raised a small host to try and retake his holding, but they proved little match against the Dwarven King. Then Percen called for aid, and the Petty King of Anfeld, Oswulf, answered with the Druids of Kirk.   Oswulf led the armies of Ellis, Kirk, and Anfeld against the Dwarven King, and a battle to besiege the Town of Silver commenced, taking months. Evidently as the terrible storms overcame the city, the Dwarves were starved out, and soon Nordlieften fled the city with his knights, and no hostages were exchanged. The Alliance of the Albion Cities pursued them by the end of summer toward the forests of Kirk, where the druids scattered the dwarf regiments. The dwarfs fled, and never again attacked the cities, and hostages were eventually exchanged. Though Nordlieften never surrendered, he agreed that he would allow a period of peace for the Albions. Never again did he attack the Albion cities, displaying caution that his Gothan and Norden neighbors failed to do.

Oswulf the Longsword

After his victory, Oswulf of Anfeld would be deemed "Oswulf the Longsword" for his prowess and bravery against the Dwarven king. In the following November, the Petty Kings of Albion assembled at the Rock of Fell and began to discuss the future, as they now saw themselves as independent kings. However, Percen the Red discussed with the other kings, and mentioned that if there was no unity between them, they would have failed against King Nordlieften. Thus, he declared that a Albion High King needed to be elected in order to prevent another attack.   After much discussion, the Petty Kings opted to elect Oswulf the Longsword as their first High King. They valued his strength and leadership. Thus, Oswulf would be crowned the new High King of Albion. His first act as king was to create a charter that allowed all the men and knights of Albion to be levied as vassals in times of war.   In the year 4310, a sudden attack came from the Northern Danen that raided the monastery of Orwood in the lands of the Kells. At first, it was believed to be a single attack. However, the Northern Danen began to raid the cities of Albion as well, and King Oswuld took his sword against them. He took their leader, a Danen King named Ormulf and executed him into a snake pit, hoping to instill fear into the hearts of the Danen.   Oswulf reigned for 20 years, and then he passed away in the year 4320, going into the arms of Cardia to remain in eternity.

Percen the Wise

Percen by Paradox Entertainment
Percen the Red, now advanced in years and becoming Percen the Wise, would once again host election for the next high king. The petty kings squabbled, all desiring the power, and thus no one was chosen. Eventually the Petty Kings elected that Percen should be their temporary High King, which Percen reluctantly took the position of.   King Percen was not thrilled with the squabbling, and realized when he died the Petty Kings of Albion would once again try and elect a high king out of politics rather than wisdom. Thus, over the 10 years of his reign, he crafted a legendary sword with his magical powers. This sword he called "Pendragon". In the days nearing his death, Percen approached the Stone of Fell and placed the sword into the Stone. When the kings of Albion asked what he was doing, Percen replied, "whoever can lift the sword from this stone shall be the next High King of Albion, for when I die, you will all surely go back to your squabbling ways!"   And indeed, when Percen died in 4330, the petty Kings of Albion no longer could decide on who was to be the next high king, fighting each other for the position, but still the sword had not been lifted from the stone.

Thus after that, there was no High King over Albion. At the worst of times, the men of the Danen, seeking vengeance against the death of King Ormulf, assembled a great host of men devoted to Morganine and began to raid and pillage the cities of Albion. The sons of Ormulf is what they called themselves, and they desired to take over Albion as the new kings of the land. For a period of 10 years, these Danen Warlords and the Petty Kings of Albion fought. Yet there still remained no High King over Albion.

Uhtric "Pendragon" Ebenwald

It was in the days of 4350 that Edith of House Swansong, the Queen of Mywick, invited four guests into a November celebration. These guests were Caoimhe Fitzpatrick of Kirkwall, John Harvard-Heming of Anfeld, Ardor Pelota of Mywick, and Earl Uhtric Godwinson, who brought along his guest Aethelflaed Aelfling. Also attended was Nilrem the druid. They feasted, and into the night, the knights of the city became drunk. The heathens then got off their boats upon the silver river and started to raid the defenseless town. Eogun and Roderick, two of Queen Edith's knights, led the defense of the city. It was in the battles that the guests and their host of warriors confronted Harald the Horrible, and his allegiance to Gromherjek Kin-Eater, a horrid serpent. Gromherjek slew Queen Edith and took her crown, declaring himself king of Mywick, and led the Mywickians and the six warriors of Uhtric, Eogun, Caoimhe, John, Ardor, and Aethelflaed to lead the citizens to safety.   In the following days, the warriors assisted the host of Mywick and fought off orcs as the exodus of Mywickians came to the safety of Bexton. The heir of Edith, her nephew named Edmund, became King of the Mywicks, and attested to the six to assist his town before he could so assuredly take in the people of Mywick under his grasp. The warriors freed the mines of Bexton from a kobold infestation, and learned the plot was done by an enchantress most evil, named Morgainne.   In the month of Winlustra, the warriors encountered a blockade on the Silver River by the Danen, led by an ice giant named Gilshmerg. They overran the blockade and came to the presence of Aethelred Rufusender, King of Ellis, and garnered support to destroy the Danen army on the river. King Aethelred joined his armies with Bexton and repelled the invaders at the Battle of the Glacier on the twenty second of Winlustra. It was in that battle that Uhtric Godwinson gained the title "Giantslayer" for his defeat of Gilshmerg.   In the ending days of 4350, Uhtric and his companions went to the town of Kirkwall and defeated a drider and her spiders encroaching on the village and celebrated the holiday of Winterball. Petty King Aethelred sent a message to his fellow kings to meet in Feller's Rock to organize the Wittan. In their party was joined a man named Monroe, who had suspicious tendencies.   In Midwinten of 4351, Uhtric and the adventurers scaled the Dragonscale Mountains, as Ardor's brother instructed them to, in order to capture a Bifrost Cube. They came to the ruins of Golgen, the halls of the old Mountain King, and fought off the copy of John. Monroe revealed himself as the Archfey Bghonah, and the party slew him before he could get his hands on the bifrost cube.   In the following days, King Aethelred of Ellis assembled the other kings of the land to vote upon the Witan, where he was elected regency. After this vote, the city of Feller's Rock was attacked by the Danen and their king, Harold the Horrible. The companion adventurers slew King Harold during the battle for the city, but afterwards the great serpent Gromherjek destroyed the sword Pendragon and the Stone of Fell. King Aethelred gave his life to protect the adventurers and wounded the dragon with a shard of the shattered sword. When that was finished, he passed on the regency to Uhtric. Though King Aethelred passed away, the battle was still victorious for the Albions, driving the Danen away in another astounding victory.   Uhtric and his knights then went on a quest to reforge the broken blade of Pendragon, travelling deep into the forests of Urshlon and into the depths of Brymoor to reforge the sword. In Brymoor they usurped the traitorous Harold II, imprisoning him. They also slew a Balor within the depths of Brymoor to finish their task. The adventurers formed an alliance with the Dwarves of the Golden Kingdom to fight off the invading Danen.   Then, on top of the mountain of Mt. Magus, the adventurers, with Uhtric holding a reformed Pendragon, confronted the forces of Gromherjek. His Dragonknights were defeated, and Morgainne was slain. The wicked Abishai Qenlynn met her last. Then, the heroes defeated Gromherjek, with Uhtric slaying him with the sword Pendragon. A month later, the wittan of Albion elected Uhtric Ebenwald to become the High King of Albion. With his sword Pendragon to keep his authority, he proceeded to rule Albion peacefully until the end of his days.
Long was the reign of Uhtric Ebenwald. His first order of business was the creation of the Knights of the Round Table, consisting of his cohorts who helped him slay the vile dragon Gromherjek.   He became involved in the Kellerite wars to his north when Eogun Oncett led the Kells against the Danen, who tried to conquer their lands in 4360. Uhtric repelled these attackers, and kept the Kellerite tribes (and their king) as tributary states, whom he protected and had Eogun MacOncett as the governor over. This, however, also left the remaining Danen without a proper king, as the son of Harald the Horrible was slain in these wars, and the Danen lands fell into turmoil. Uhtric oversaw this, and declared the Lord of Kalterfels, Ockto Red-Beard, to be the regent over the Danelands.   Many of Uhtric's other acts fall into the source of legend for the Albions. Some of which involve further dragon slayings, adventures for different artifacts, and acts of general chivalry. When he grew near the end of his days in 4487, his great grandson Arthur was elected to become king in his place. He died peacefully, overseeing six generations of his family coming to be. He was mourned by his half-elf wife, Aethelflaed, and a great day of mourning in Feller's Rock came to be.
