Talamh

Talamh is a planet, blessed with extraordinary conditions to contain life. It is known for it's oceans of water and large land masses. Talamh is teaming with fauna and flora on every single one of it's continents. Talamh also contains several sentience species, including humans, the most numerous of the populations.

Geography

Talamh is filled with liquid oceans that surround three large continents: Eiren, Faraway, and Great Antillia. Each of those continents have a variety of echo systems: deserts, forests, mountains, tundra, etc. However, the primary climate seems to be largely tropical, as the largest continents of Antillia and Faraway are much more southern than the smaller Eiren.

Ecosystem

The ecosystem of Talamh is incredibly complex: with swirling clouds, mountainous regions, volcanos, and powerful winds, it makes all a variety of temperatures and biomes that many of the animals and sentient races of Talamh have found themselves to thrive in. For example, the regions of Tamay and Bolderun are vast deserts. Much of Faraway consists of arid planes. Northern Eiren is a rich, wet land filled with forests. Meanwhile, the Wallingwish Isles and Antillia are tropical paradises along the equator.

History

According to Dwarven legend, Talamh was created by the god Boldur as a mass, rocky landscape that he filled with water and great mountains. Many different beliefs try to explain the other gods interfering with the creation, such as Brigid creating plantlife and Maclir influencing the oceans. After the initial creation, the gods themselves interfered little in the lives of mortals except through choice individuals, such as clerics. Save for the fallen goddess Vanu-Am, daughter of Boldur, who, after being stabbed by the sword Malumferak, remained in the land of mortals and kept a close eye on their history.   Thus, ever since the 2nd millennium of Talamh's history, the progress by men slowed down substantially as all the races both fought as well as intermingled. However, these races also began to learn how to control the forces of the universe themselves, a process they called "magic". It destroyed their dependency on progressing technology, but was kept by the few powers that could understand and learn it. Thus many people were held back by the powerful magicians. This started to die by the 5th millennium as technology began to rapidly catch up due to the substantial amount of conflicts that suddenly arose. By the 6th millennium, the globe was circumnavigated and vast empires began to stretch across the surface of Talamh.
