House of Ebenwald

The House of Ebenwald was a powerful Lisanrikian dynasty headquartered in the city of Brymoor that persisted in the continent of Eiren. They are primarily acknowledged for their time as the Kings of Lysandus.

History of the House

4th Millenium

The Ebenwalds rose to power within the city of Brymoor when the old petty king of the city, King Harold Byrmoor, was challenged by his peasants in the year 4050. Harold Brymoor's closest advisor, Cuthbert Ebenwald, manipulated the events of the rebellion and managed to usurp the crown of Brymoor for himself. Thus Cuthbert became the King of the Brymoorians, and so did his children. They were challenged by the Kingdom of Anfeld, their neighbor, and battled for centuries for further power in the region.   In the year 4230, King Geralt Ebenwald seduced the Queen of the newly established Kingdom of Goth and with her had a bastard daughter named Ieasbreda. Evidently Ieasbreda and her father schemed on taking control of the Kingdom of Goth to expand their territory. However, he eventually disowned his own daughter when she decided to rule the region of Halfia independently of him. Goth split into two kingdoms: Larian and Halfia, and thus Ieasbreda Ebenwald became Queen of the Halflands.

5th Millenium

Aethel Ebenwald, known more commonly as Ebenwald Lysandus, was renowned for his unification of the Lysandans, becoming their first king in the year 1A 5496.
In the 55th century, the House of Ebenwald in Brymoor was inherited by the young Duke Aethel Ebenwald. He envisioned a unified Lysandus ruled by men, not by the foreign dwarves. Thus, he took over Feller's Rock and gathered the support of the Dukedom of Anfeld to rebel against the High King of Lisanrik, Edmur Bolderun. In a period of 20 years, he gathered the support of the other cities in Lisanrik and eventually garnered the support of the Kells. In a landmark victory in 5489, Aethel Ebenwald defeated the Dwarves at the fortification of Caleah. Then in the year 5496, he broke through the gates of the Golden City and usurped and killed the Dwarven High King. The people of Lisanrik and Keller declared Aethel as their new "King over all of Lysandus", and he ruled relatively peacefully.   After the death of King Adran, Aethel's son, the dynasty's power came into question when Adran's remaining heir Dariah became queen. She was a half-dwarf. A civil war broke out over Lysandus during her reign by the House of Occant, but she resolved the war by marrying into that family. Thus the remaining Kings of Lysandus would be of the House of Occant. Save for the usurper and pretender, King Erik Ebenwald, an unpopular and tyrannical king. Erik, however, would be disposed by Mortimer Occant the Second, and the Occants were restored to their power as kings.   To this day, the Ebenwalds hold power in the city of Brymoor, but their time as Kings over all of Lysandus are over. But the fondness the nation has for King Aethel shall not be understated.
