Basic Information

Anatomy

Terra-Cotta Warrior by Ben Wooten
Goremu appear to be made out of "terracotta" but are actually advanced versions of stone and clay golems that have gained a form of sentience. They resemble humans, having two arms, two legs, and a human-like head. However, they lack any organic muscles or bones, only being held together by strange spiritual forces to give them life.

Biological Traits

Strangely, the Goremu men often differed from the women. The men were often made from stone or clay golems for strength, while the women were often created from porcelain dolls or crafts to take on a very hardened yet delicate look. The women were often shinier and sleeker. Both, however, were known for their amazing constitution.

Growth Rate & Stages

Goremu are not creatures that grow, they are constructed by a powerful wizard or shaman who brings a living spirit into a body of terracotta. For this reason, they are born already with a mature and rational concept of reality. The only growth the Goremu does is by learning and experiencing new things.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

The Goremu are very intelligent for being an advanced golem, to the point where they can feel a slight twinge of emotion. The most advanced and experienced Goremu have been able to develop emotions that rival that of a human's capacity.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

The Goremu often followed names based off human traditions depending on the region they were made.

History

A Goremu Female as a ninja, only displaying a porcelain face while disguising the rest of her form.
The Goremu were first created as a part of the advancements made by Ogan transmutation wizards, who were experimenting with new types of golems. One legendary wizard, named Yo Zijin, managed to conjure a more powerful living spiritual force into a terracotta golem he had made. Before his eyes, the golem sprung to life. Not in the traditional golem sense: it could think and talk, answering to the wizard many questions.   Amazed by his creation, the wizard Yo Zijin came to the Dragon Emperor Shao-Long II to present him with his new invention. Soon, the dragon emperor commissioned more of these terracotta warriors, being called "Goremu", to be made. Hundreds were made. However, the samurai of Oga were insulted to see constructs trying to replace them and told the Dragon Emperor that these terracotta warriors could not replace traditional samurai values.   So, the "Goremu" were used for a few decades but then many were buried or simply shut down to be decommissioned. A few escaped this fate, and more new ones were made by prominent wizards fascinated by the process, including women Goremu made of porcelain. Some of these Goremu who lost their purpose were sent out to become warriors or ninjas, or even sorcerers themselves, in order to be protectors in society.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Many humans are frankly very scared of the Goremu, getting a sense of uncanniness from their near-human appearance. Also, many view them as artificial in both culture and morality. Though the Goremu try to fit in, they are just not considered people and as such are treated as outcasts.
Lifespan
Unknown, most are around 2-30 years old, some have survived from 300 years ago.
Conservation Status
The species could certainly be considered threatened since there is not a lot of them left, though many are unsure to even call them a "species" considering their creation. The Goremu are viewed largely as smarter-than-average golems by many but not as "people".
Average Height
5'6''
Average Weight
127 lbs.
