The Battle of Vicante
The Conflict
Prelude
Having established a base in the ruins of Vicante, the battalion of troops from the Kingdom of Falcrest marches on a Dunmaer tribal camp.
Deployment
The Battalion surrounds the Dunmaer camp. The Dunmaer chief sends his warriors to attempt to break the blockade long enough for the women and children in the camp to escape.
The Engagement
57 Dunmaer warriors charge the Infantry Battalion. Surprised by the sudden rush, the Battalion breaks but quickly regroups, defeating the warriors. The Battalion marches into the camp, putting every occupant to the sword and burning the tents.
Outcome
Five Infantrymen are killed in the initial clash. All 57 Dunmaer warriors are killed, along with 130 non-combatants. Three children manage to escape, fleeing east into Dunmaerik.
Aftermath
Dunmaerik learns of the massacre from the survivors, calling up the various tribes of the nation to fight.
Historical Significance
Legacy
The Battle of Vicante becomes known as the Vicante Bonfire, going down in history as a war crime. The commander of the Infantry Battalion survives the Battle but is later summoned back to Ubressa for disciplinary action.
