Keth

Solian god of Chaos and Darkness

Solianism is a religion that revolves around two main all-powerfull deities. Of course, there is Saol, the solian god of order and light, and from which the religion's name comes. Keth is the solian god of chaos and darkness, and an eternal enemy of Saol and his creation, including humans.

Representation

Keth is often depicted as a strong, fair skined man with the head of a reptile. In Enaskia and in Arros, the reptile in question is a crocodile, while in Samaria, it is instead the head of an Occomor. He also has a pair of short, dark horns pushing out from his forehead, a long and thick tail covered in green scales, and either purple or red glowing eyes. Some drawings and even texts describe him as also having animal claws and patches of green scales on his hands, neck and shoulders.

Divine Domains

Keth is said to be contained and/or imprisoned within the underworld, which is described in Solianic texts as being a large cavernous region located deep under the world's surface. It is further described as being incredibly hot and shrouded in thick darkness.   Interestingly, other ancient solianic texts also mention many different types of monsters, beats and even demons that are supposedly living down there, under the evil influence of Keth. They are described as having both a reptile and mammal appearance, with horns, scales, but also hooves and fur.   However, these texts are viewed by most Arcans and Rayns as heretical because those texts came centuries after the original texts onto which Solianism is founded on. Instead, these spiritual leaders say that Keth remains alone in his celestial prison; The underworld, as was described in those original texts.

Artifacts

Shadestone is a type of rock which scholars think is formed in the bowels of the world. Solian theologians go further, saying that they are formed within the underworld, where rocks come into contact with Keth's shadows and fuze with them, creating a material with unique propreties, which were able to be used by Shadow Mages to amplify their elemental abilities. Historicaly, this has lead to them being associated with Keth, which contributed a lot to their eventual extinction.

Holy Books & Codes

The Gift is a book that is closely related to Keth. Indeed, inside is detailed an ideology that lead to countless mage deaths. The book argues that mages and magic in general are the works of Keth, and not Saol, and that human must do whatever it takes to remove magic and their users from the world. Many Solianic leaders, as well as their followers now instead argue that the book's author and the ideology inside are instead influenced by Keth himself, who used the fear of humans to turn them against each other.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

As described in the creation myth of Solianism, Keth was imprisoned inside the world, or under its surface, within the so-called underworld after a long battle against Saol over the control of the Teberis or "The beyond".   Ever since then, Keth's one and only goal has been to escape the underworld and take revenge upon the god that imprisoned him. To that end, he seeks to sow chaos and disorder within Saol's prized creation, which are humans. Eventualy, one of those humans, called The Shadeling or the Son of Darkness will allow Keth to escape out of his celestial prison, which would trigger the end of the world. Or so the ancient solianic texts say.
