Etherial Telepathy system

While silver metal is usually toxic for a Soulmage, as it provokes adverse effects to their abilities as well as damaging their body and soul, Sterling silver does not. In fact, this alloy, made of Silver and copper is used by soulmages across Hysal to allow them to communicate with each other telepathically over long distance by using the properties of the The Ether. This created a system of communications used by most countries in Hysal.

Utility

Like mentioned previously, it can be used for long distance communications between soulmages, allowing them to be relays for messages between kings, Barrons and guilmasters.

Social Impact

Thanks to this system of message relays, Soulbound magic became crucial for most countries, giving a layer of protection for Soulmages who have been historicaly oppressed.

History

Soulstridders had almost alway been used as mesengers between cities and even kingdoms. Thanks to their ability to use the Ether to teleport to places they had already been before, it made them the perfect messengers for long distance communications.   However, with the discovery of the effects of sterling silver on Soulmages and the subsequent discovery of Telepathy, Teleportation quickly became obsolete and the entire system gradually shifted from a physical network, to a telepathic network. This is both because telepathy could be done by more people, not just Soulstriders, but also because teleportation requires a lot of energy from the Soulmage, while telepathic communication does not. However, teleportation is not completely obsolete and likely will never be, as one of the crucial requirement for telepathic communication is to know what the receiver of the message looks like. If they dont, the communication will be lost. Soulstriders are used in those case where the message need to go to a destination, but not necessary a specific person.   Of course, Soulmages are still in the margins of society, so recruiting or forcing one to work in this system is tricky and expensive.

Access & Availability
The system is only used by the high nobility of large countries, or guilds and other organisation rich enough to get access to it by buying the service of a Soulstridder or buying the person outright.   The rings themselves are quite rare in general, mostly because of the rarity of silver metal and because the need for sterling silver is quite niche, thus the demand is low and production of it is low.
Complexity
While the rings themselves are quite simple to make, using them can be challenging for non-experienced Soulmages. Receiving a message is simple enough: as long as the Soulmage wear a ring, they will be able to hear communications destined for them.   However, Emitting a Communicating clearly and without interference requires a lot of practice. First of all, the emitter need to have seen the person beforehand and think of them while communicating, otherwise the message will not reach its destination. There is also the fact that the longer the message is, the harder it will be to deliver clearly.    Communicating to someone else telepathically requires lots of practice to do accurately and most take years of practice to be able to reliably send longer messages to receivers. For this reason, messages are generally kept short a simple.
Discovery
As Magicalurgy advanced through the ages, sterling alloy was discovered to have a very specific effects on Soulmages, in particularly with Soulmages with a very strong connection to The Ether , such as Soulsriders and Shapeshfiter. It allowed for their thoughts to be heard by other soulmages wearing these rings.
