Doctor Chi Ming Xicon
Chi was the ship's doctor when the Lexicon crashed on Eyden. A young doctor, she'd been a year out of her residency when she had been approached for the project.
Chi thought she was dreaming when a muscular cat-like man rescued her for her cryo-pod. When she came to her senses Renz was taking care of her. He'd been Lawrence then, the young anthropologist who'd flown with Chi from the Indira Gandhi International Airport near New Deli to LAX in California. When Chi came to her senses, she jumped up to help clear out the rest of the survivors and pass supplies down the ladder to waiting hands. Fifteen years later she and Renz had nursed people through the plague and helped establish a safe and comfortable college town.
Chi had felt too contented for the past couple of years. She knew the other shoe would drop soon. It always did. And then Renz had been sent on diplomatic duty. And been poisoned. She'd go through anyone who tried to stop her from getting to him, but that journey had not been harrowing either.
The climb up the mountain to Soza Castle had been. Howling winds, bandits, thinning air. But exhilarating.
