The Twelve Arms of Death Item in Chimera D10 | World Anvil

The Twelve Arms of Death

A bladed twelve-lashed whipsword to some, a dual-sided six-pronged polearm to others, a twelve barreled gun to someone yet to come.
Bending in form to the will and desire of the user, it will always maintain its rather unwieldy but merciless theme--that there are twelve arms of death, and they will receive all of the dead.   Forged with a hair of Morrighan--the Black Moth, a bone chip of Itsamn--the Lost Child, an eye of Echbeles--The Shepherd, and a feather of Aiseiri--the Soul Swan, the sword is a divine artefact. All who touch this weapon have been granted the ability to adjudicate swift death to all those who have sought to avoid death; to all else, the weapon passes through them painlessly, losing its ability to harm.

Lichbane and Morningstar

Most often taking the form of a twelve-spiked morningstar, this weapon is most powerful against the accursed undead, long-lived mages, the most common combination of the two being Liches.   With these qualities in mind, this weapon became a prized possession of The Legion which was founded on the back of a religious group of monster slayers who specialized in purging the undead and liches. These warriors sought to deliver and keep the peace on the border of life and death.

Notable Battles

This weapon was used by Valik Ethril, one of the founders of The Heroes Guild, as a gift from one of his uncles--Theodrin Ethril, founder of The Legion and the religious order.   Wielding this in battle, Valik Ethril fought against the Godking Faust whose body began to crumble under the potency of the divine spark. While yet unsure of their plan would work, Valik Ethril swung his morningstar praying their plan would work, only for Godking Faust's body to be torn asunder, leaving only his spirit in Lich Form as the battle went on.   At the end of the battle, Valik Ethril returned the weapon to Theodrin Ethril, who went on to use the weapon to serve and protect the Ievlen Empire.   It is noted here that Theodrin used the weapon against a Dracolich in the Palewoods bordering the Ievlen Empire, winning both the weapon and Theodrin greater fame. This earned The Legion's place among the Ievlen Empire both as a religious order but a militant force of monster slayers to keep the city safe.
