Skadi 4

Normally, under CHG law, all GMOs are slaves and the CHG has a monopoly on the slave trade within its territory (it's for security reasons but by Cthulhu what the hell CHG), thanks to the fact that only the CHG is allowed to make GMOs, all GMOs are created infertile (the ones on the Infinity Station and here were given fertility treatments) and nobody is legally allowed to sell GMOs without it being more that they sell it to the CHG which sells it to the person B that person A wanted to sell a slave to (although straight up deals do happen).

However, there was a war with the LIR (again. Speaking of which war was stupid at this point because of how powerful the defences that had been built up at the border were by now) and the CHG was having trouble cracking an icy planet that was home to several giant laser shooters that were destroying any CHG ships that got too close, and the CHG wasn't risking any super-weapons for it. Deploying soldiers with any especially advanced armour wasn't an option due to the magnetic pulses being emitted (which caused most CHG equipment to explode if it got within a 37.3 mile radius of it) and that meant any soldiers deployed would have to rely on insulative equipment that simply wouldn't do with any normal humans. Oh and robots wouldn't work either.

In come some GMO slaves. They were created to survive and work in cold environments, mostly for the purpose of repairing robots in arctic areas, clearing out predators from areas where bio-domes were going to be built and mining in areas where the magnetic fields were too dodgy for any robots not to go haywire if they were put to use there. The CHG was all "hmmmmmmmmmm, interesting, very interesting" and offered these GMOs a place in the ranks of the military for such situations as these, as they were surprisingly common as magnetic pulses were the LIR's go-to method of making bases on freezing planets untouchable for the CHG. Enough of them joined willingly for those that didn't not to have to be forced to join (and they would've been forced to join) and were used for situations such as these. Repeatedly.

The survivors, being roughly 30percent of the initial army of hairy GMOs, were (sort of) given the reward they'd been first offered that made them sign up. Planetary citizenship (they have all the rights of a normal person so long as they're on that planet) on Skadi 4, a freezing cold planet that is home to dozens of dangerous predators, a large array of mostly poisonous plants and occasional earthquakes! And they already had hostile neighbours in the form of regular humans living in warm bio-domes on the planet! YAY! The initial population of ~50,000 grew at great speed due to somebody going overboard with that fertility treatment and these GMOs being, ah, let's say... energetic.

But that's enough about the furry-looking inhabitants: onto the planet!

Geography

Ahh, imagine it. At the poles, you will see rivers and lakes of liquid carbon dioxide. At the equator it's basically Iceland, with similar temperatures, landscapes and wildlife. Once you're out of the sub-tropics liquid water no longer exists so, uh, don't go there. The subtropics themselves are basically Antarctica and the Arctic. There are 2 continents that aren't surrounded on all sides with ice and they're both roughly the size of Australia and tonnes of islands, the largest being 2/3 of the size of Madagascar.

There are plenty of mountains, flat areas and forests in the habitable regions.

Fauna & Flora

The existence of wooly mammoths (oh yeah, they made a comeback during the terraforming process, even if these ones are larger), giant as well as regular polar bears (natural selection just couldn't decide between "eat less" and "be able to kill and eat the mammoths". Also neither are technically polar bears due to the lack of either of them living in the poles here), 96 different species of penguins, titanic sea creatures that hibernate inside of ice, large land reptiles with thick feather downing, numerous underground beings, LITERAL YETIS (tbf they're evolved from gorillas which ONLY MAKES IT BETTER), countless kinds of fish and arctic (except they're not really arctic) eagles the size of horses only covers the tip of the ice berg when it comes to this worlds inhabitants. Oh and there is arctic doggos and wolfies so bring cameras and dog treats if you come here.

For flora we got; evergreen trees, fungi at the poles that live in and around the carbon dioxide lakes, photosynthesising micro-organisms at the surface of the oceans, seaweed, numerous small-leafed plants, the semi-legendary Yggdrasil (there are like 100,000+ Yggdrasils in existence though so this isn't that special. Anything taller than a kilometer gets to be a Yggdrasil and receive lots of legal protections from being cut down or damaged in any way)! Frost potatoes. Yes.

Natural Resources

Well, liquid carbon dioxide is always cool. Aside from that there are countless crystals that only have any real value to rich people when the guy selling it pretends that 2 kids found it and proceeded to kill one another. The mantle is mostly made of iron which has plenty of value. Iron, gold, copper and titanium ores are common.
