Herd of Oapotlan

"Congratulations on your marriage to Yeju of Micnatono! I present you your wedding gift." The Lord said lifting up a small coffer to the desk. "One of the half-breed will escort you and your party. I will miss you and your wit." The lord smiled, a thing that didn't reach is faintly glowing red eyes and revealed pointed fangs. "Yeju is said to be slightly dimmer than a rock, but pleasing to the eye and of even disposition. You should do well there." The lord glided forward, the only sound the slight hiss of his long red, gold embroidered robes dragging across the floor. His hair in an ornate black coil and topknot. A finger with long pointed nails tipped up the woman's face. She remained silent, passive, smelling the odor of dry mold and dirt from her lord. He stood gazing at her yellow eyes and fangs, the pointed ears and near black skin of her Goblin manifestation. "The Master of Micnatono is paying well for this match and you will be his most favored pet and beverage. And he hopes, founder of his own line of supply."

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Aevuan seeks to produce a Fae blood population within The Harrowland . He arranges marriages to breed his herd "nobles" for Fae blood.

Ecology and Habitats

A typical Harrowland Village is a walled multifloored complex. This keeps the residents safe from the hordes of undead Risen on the outside, as well as other hazards. The Ruling Vampire clan are at the core with Underground chambers. Individual and family residences, and some small businesses are on the wall. Surrounding the Ruler's compound are taverns and market, and other businesses and enterprises on the ground level.

Additional Information

Domestication

The original tribal people were nearly wiped out approximately 2000 years ago with the arrival of the Harrower and the undead hordes. Before all the living were consumed the Harrower judged them a needed part of it's domain, gathering the tribes and assigned Vampires as Governors of domains. Walled villages were given protection from the roaming undead while the living made the skilled craft items and tribal chiefs continued as rulers of humans in daylight hours. Many clans simply protected their food supply and left the humans to their own ways. They did trade and exchange skilled humans from keep to keep. The population changed to become the Sangir Clans designated by original tribes, cities and Vampire Clan. They are of sallow, yellow skin tone. Eye colors of grey, or dark brown or even black. Hair is black or dark brown. Unique to the Harrowlands are the Dhampir, half vampires, that serve as petty nobles and overseers of the human herds for their Vampire kin. Dhampir and Necromancers command the lesser undead zombies and Risen to perform basic labor such as cutting timber and mining, while the living humans sort, refine, process and craft the comforts and products needed. Dhampir and Neromancers also over see travel and roads that allow trade and movement between cities keeping caravans safe from roaming packs of ghouls and Risen or worse. They also will be found commanding the dead pirate fleets.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The herds supply entertainment, play things, companions and producers of quality crafts and items. They perform the skilled crafts and labor and conduct trade between the settlements with oversight and protection from Necromancers and Dhampir half lifers.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

In the Harrowlands, humans are the livestock of the Vampire lords and fuel of the Harrower. Lord Aevuan of the Lamashtu clan of Patrician blood line vampires has developed his lines over the past several centuries. Because vampires are undead, alcohol has no effect on them, though some may still drink it in small quantities for flavor or memory. Fae blood has an intoxication like effect on them. If there had been significant fae populations in the ancient Harrowlands, they were wiped out in the early years of conquest. Auvuan collects any fae blood he can find as well as families who have had Changelings , swapping favors and on occasion paying agents to capture fae and bring them to him. His prize stock are kept well with Noble title and are given rulership of the common herd, but may never remove his iron arm, leg and neck "jewelry".

Civilization and Culture

History

Once the home of a tribal people now long forgotten the Harrowland became the home of a thing of the underworld nearly 3000 years ago. It is unknown if it was somehow summoned or found a way to escape the underworld in a Warp rift or a locus. The Harrower is the undead God and ruler of the island - a creature neverborn in the world with a hunger for blood and life energy. With the Harrower's arrival came the Risen - zombie undead with a bite that is both toxic and contagious and causes the wounded to die and arise in the night to hunt living flesh. No animal Risen are known but Beastmen forms and even Fae occur. The Harrower's influence caused other undead to be drawn to the island - vampires, Draugr, ghouls, wraiths and worse. It also brought forth more minions of it's own. The place became a domain of fear, terror and death.
Before all the living were consumed the Harrower judged them a needed part of it's domain, gathering the tribes and assigned Vampires as Governors of settlements. Walled villages were given protection from the roaming undead while the living made the skilled craft items and tribal chiefs continued as rulers of humans in daylight hours. Immigration comes in the form of Necromancers, Black Magic practitioners and Blood Mages fleeing the Empire and the periodic prisoners captured by the undead crewed pirate fleet. The population changed to become the Sangir Clans designating original tribes, cities and patron Vampire Clan and taking on a sallowed, yellow skin tone. Eye colors of grey, or dark brown or even black. Hair is black or dark brown.
