The Sanctum
The Sanctum is the place where Cuuhuina's body and Celesvena are protected and worshipped by the Guruans. They are is kept in a sacred shrine, immortalised, so that her legacy will never be forgotten.
The Sanctum itself lies in the deepest grove of the Sunken Forest where divine light has never touched the earth. It is a wooden temple adorned with intricate carvings, and the doorway is flanked by two great pillars covered in ancient glyphs. Gifts of flowers and fruit are constantly covering the bases of the pillars. The shrine also features a pool of clear and fresh water containing pebbles, each bearing the name of a deceased Guruan. It is also decorated with any bioluminescent thing that Guruans can find, whether it's insects, flowers, or anything else, as it is believed that this bioluminescence is a potent manifestation of Cuuhuina's lingering power.
The ancient glyphs on the pillars are recordings of Cuuhuina's teachings during her life, but the language of the pillars has been lost to time, and only the essential values of her teaching--such as love, peace, wisdom, healing, and compassion--have been preserved. These glyphs are often written by children on special leaves as part of their education. These leaves are entered into the Sanctum when the child comes of age. The aforementioned stones are placed in the sacred pool because the seed that lives inside all people must continue to be nurtured even after death, and carving the name on the stone binds the heart to the stone.
The Sanctum places emphasis on connecting to Cuuhuina's spirit through the use of recreational drugs. This is either done alone, or communally in silence during rituals. Special perfumes are also used during this time, as it is believed that smell is the most sacred of senses, and certain odours can drastically alter the state of any living thing. These rituals are used to maintain a strong mind and a spirited heart, and although non-Guruans are welcome to join these rituals, they require a Guruan to guide the process.
