Saurids

Saurids are an ethnic group of Free Trogites that live on Mount Bakker, an active volcano on The Saurid Covenant.
The Saurids are insular, mysterious, and often misunderstood due to their geographical isolation. Although Saurids are seen occasionally across the continent, most live their entire lives within the walls of the tropical oasis on Mount Bakker Caldera.
Saurid people are more reptile-like than their land dwelling Trogite counterparts, and although they like the warmth, they are able to survive in temperate climates with no ill effects, and even cold ones with the proper technology.
The Saurid people were among the first to resist the cultural revolution of The Hidden Kingdom 1000 years ago, resulting in the Schism Wars. They allied themselves with other Free Trogites living in Old Cryptara, creating The Saurid Covenant, a bulwark against further invasion and capture of Free Trogite lands.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Saurids are bipedal, humanoid creatures with features resemblind dinosaurs. Their skin has a pebbled texture like a reptile, and some are occasionally known to have down and feathers.

Ecology and Habitats

Saurids thrive in hot, tropical environments, with both heat and moisture-- which is part of the reason most stay on Mount Bakker. However, there are a few Saurid groups living in places like Clementine Beach that have a hotter environment with plenty of water.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Not much is known about Saurid social structure-- and although they are somewhat known for their military power in that they were able to stand up to The Hidden Kingdom, they are not known to be warlike, and are focused more on protection and architecture than fighting.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Saurids have a deep understanding of Chromatic arts, learned through studying the behavior of magma-- so where a Doriaani martial artist may understand Chroma as light, a Saurid would think of Chroma as more of a liquid. This also gives them a better command of telekinesis and matter manipulation.

Civilization and Culture

Average Technological Level

As far as anyone knows, Saurids have some outside technology like computers, but have developed their own ways of dealing with issues and mainly use their own proprietary technologies and gadgets using what they can mine from the surrounding mountains.

Common Etiquette Rules

Saurids tend to be very informal and are not known to observe the more honor/respect based traditions you see among the Trogite population.
