Theobert Samson

(a.k.a. The Fifth Engineer)

Theobert Samson is an ex-professor at the Hashmallum Academy of Geo and previously a member of the reputable Seven Engineers.

Hashmallum Academy of Geo

The Hashmallum Academy of Geo was abuzz with intellectual fervor, and among its esteemed faculty was Professor Theobert Samson. Renowned for his expertise in physics, astronomy, and geology, Samson's lectures were always enlightening, captivating students with tales of cosmic wonders and the mysteries of Carth. Samson had spent years delving into ancient texts and conducting experiments to understand the latent magic within these precious stones. His studies revealed a wealth of knowledge about harnessing and amplifying magical energy kept inside rare gems and crystals, leading to the creation of intricate devices powered by crystalline cores. One such invention was the flying air balloon—a marvel of engineering that utilized magical principles to defy gravity and soar through the skies.

The Reclaimant War

During one of the Academy's symposiums on magical-technology theory, Samson unveiled his flying air balloon prototype, showcasing its potential for transportation and exploration. The demonstration caught the attention of his close friend and fellow professor, Otto von Kassel, who was intrigued by the fusion of magic and science in Samson's work. Recognizing the strategic advantage that flying fortresses could offer in times of war, von Kassel approached Samson with an offer to expand on his inventions. Samson, who was hesitant due to his pacifist beliefs and desire for knowledge to be used for peaceful purposes, initially declined to share his research. A few years later into the losing war with Fovhram, Samson was again approached by von Kassel - this time with his followers Maximillian Mandorf, Eleanore Korne, and Ruger Lareau. Samson eventually relented upon realizing the potential impact his inventions could have in ending the war quickly, and the possible Garillander lives he could save. As a member of The Seven Engineers, Samson's expertise in magical technology and his invention of the flying air balloons-turned-fortresses proved invaluable, as these War Balloons quickly became the most feared sight on the battlefield, even defeating the so-called invincible T.G. Cid.

Post-War

The post-war era marked a turning point for Professor Theobert Samson as he decided to part ways with The Seven Engineers, much to the surprise and dismay of his colleagues. Samson bid farewell to the group and embarked for Hillend. His destination was Le'Renoulle, the illustrious capital of Hillend, where the Wolfwing Templar guild held sway. Samson sought to share his expertise with the templar acolytes. In addition to his work with the Wolfwing Templars, Samson also took up a position at Le'Renoulle University, where he lectured on physics, astronomy, and geology. His classes became renowned for their insightful explorations of cosmic phenomena and the intricate interplay between magic and science.   Samson has been residing in Le'Rounelle to this day, but with the advent of new war, Samson and his inventions may be alifted yet again.
