Sawgrass

A central subterranean pouch covered by a membrane, and surrounded by stiff, serrated blades of grass that point inwards. The individual blades of grass get narrower and sparser farther away from the center.   As prey approaches, the grass flattens easily to allow its passage, but then springs back up to block its exit. The harder the prey tries to leave, the more likely it is to be cut on the serrated edges. Once blood is drawn, the speed and range of movement of the individual blades increases, with the outer ones standing up and rotating toward it, and the inner ones flattening to present a path.   When prey reaches the bare center, it falls through the membrane into the stomach and is digested, during which time the membrane reforms, and is covered by blowing dirt and dust.
