The River Pelorus
The river Pelorus is the life's blood of the Southern lands of The Kingdom of the Swadians, and feeds a forest along it's banks that stretches for hundreds of kilometers.
The river is fed by the run-off from the the Canocian Badlands, and an underground river that runs from Lake Porthos. It acts as a highway for those who live along it, as one can sail along it much faster than one could walk. This has fed numerous boomtowns along it's edges, where merchants and soldiers frequently move up and down it. However, it is also viewed as a threat to Swadian security, and so there are military units assigned to lay massive long chains across it's width, should forces from the The Battanian Confederacy or The Western Calradian Empire attempt to use it to enter the Swadian heartlands.
The river is also well known to be home to some creatures of fey origin, such as water nymphs and fairies, who frequent it's off-shoot pools. The locals have thus begun to have hybrid religious worship, where they make sacrifices to both the spirits of the river, but also the Saints of Order. One could describe this as one of the very few examples of religious diversity on the continent. The local nobles, including King Rhuiden Dey Meroc could care less about this, as long as the people remain subservient to the crown.
