Lake Porthos

"Never have I seen such a blessing from the Gods, be also such a curse" -Archon of Lageta

Lake Porthos is fed by the Mountains to it's Southwest, and is one of the reasons for the fertility of the lands surrounding Lageta. The Lake itself feeds the surrounding forest, which helps keep the water in the soil around Lageta from simply running off to lower areas. However, the forest surrounding the lake has also long been a hiding place for bandits, outlaws, and cultists, as it's woodlands are thick and difficult to see through. Many of those who see no better life than toiling in the fields around Lageta will come here to try and scratch out a life, or find new purpose.
For this reason, the The Western Calradian Empire has stood up a ranger corps specifically to patrol this forest, and bring those outlaws to justice, or at the very least keep them contained. Should these bandit gangs manage to grow strong enough, they may be able to threaten the flatlands surrounding Lageta, and therefore the primary food source of this region of the empire. 
To support the ranger corps, numerous small walled logging towns have sprung up along the edge of the forest, to try and reduce it's size, and create a barrier to people entering or leaving the forest undetected.
