The River Astrid

The river Astrid is named after Saint Astrid, Who rallied the people of the region around Gersegos to fight against the daemons and barbarians of the North, and retake it for the forces of Order. Though the river was once considered "holy" and "untainted", today it is far from a peaceful place. The river has been the centre-piece of the battles between the Tsardom of the Vaegirs and The Western Calradian Empire over control of the Icaran Wildlands.
Towns and villages on either side have either fortified themselves or been pillaged and razed completely. Some say the river even smells of blood as it runs through Caprera. 
The Imperials to the South believe it is their duty to cross the River to retake the lands beyond in Astrid's name. The Vaegirs to the North believe that they too fight in Astrid's name, as it was she that crossed it to create prosperity and safety for their people, just as the Vaegirs want to do.
