Poros
The city of Poros sits near the northern shores of the Perassic Sea. The warm rolling hills of these parts are well suited to the raising of sheep and horses. The herdsman have a reputation for being proud and violent, but the nobles of House Leonipardes who rule this land are careful to respect their autonomy. Livestock rustling and blood feuds are common here, and it is said that the Leonipardes will never interfere unless invited by both parties, but when they do, their judgments will be obeyed by all. This tradition has been well upheld by the leader of the house, Chaeron Leonipardes, who has managed to maintain the tacit respect of the people of these lands for decades.
The city is nestled up against the mountains surrounded Mt. Sigrun, and it has a significant dwarf population as a result. Unlike many other cities of the Empire though, it does not have walls surrounding it. The locals of this region have always believed that they should keep their overlords weak, and their culture is unique, in that they believe that anyone with enough power and authority to rule over them, ought to be able to do so without hiding behind walls. Despite encouragement to the contrary, the ruling House Leonipardes had leant into this belief, and rule with iron will and gravitas, rather than defenses.
The city itself is the military centre of The Eastern Calradian empire. The city's denizens, and those of the surrounding countryside are the most suited to fighting, and the legions raised from Poros are now known to the enemies of Emperor Lucon Osticos as his most vicious soldiers. Also, due to it's position in the center of the five cities that make up the centre of the The Eastern Calradian empire, it has been a military mustering point for decades. It is here that armies will muster, gather livestock and horses for food and transport, before moving on to the battlefields at The Corridor of Blood And Tears.
This place of importance has made the businesses within the city's walls quite rich and wealthy, and any tradesperson worth their salt wants to work here, due to the large profits to be made outfitting and servicing the soldiery. The silver mines of Mt. Sigrun also provide significant wealth, and many can identify armour developed in Poros from the ornately carved silver rings that they use to adorn it. This martial aspect though has made it a place not frequented by many upper-class folk, and there is little in the way of art or culture here. The food is simple, and the people are rough. despite this many say they would never leave, for although the city may be rough around the edges it's people are fiercely loyal to their own, and if you are a apart of a household here you know they would be willing to lay down their lives for your honour and wellbeing.
