Calmarendi is the world on which Part I of the novel Visions in Blue takes place.
A detail rich environment in which to place the action of Visions in Blue; a guide to story tellers who want to contribute to that project, or make thier own stories in that world, without getting bogged down in the nitty gritty of world building.
Isekai
Wikipedia tells us that
Isekai (literal translation: "different world" or "otherworld") is a Japanese genre of light novels, manga, anime and video games that revolve around a person who is transported to and has to survive in another world, such as a fantasy world, virtual world, planet or parallel universe. This plot device allows the audience to learn about the new world at the same pace as the protagonist.
Visions in Blue (Part I) is just such a story; Calmarendi is that world.
Science Fantasy
Be in no doubt that at its core this is a science fiction story: a robot novel with a robot as one of its protagonists. However some speculative elements, particularly in Part I of the novel, do veer more into the realms of fantasy, such as the fae and the
unicorns.
Steampunk
It isn’t a steampunk novel as such but the main conceit of Part I is that our protagonists find themselves in a society stuck in an age of steam powered engineering and technology.

We do not want
Visions in Blue to be defined as an "adult" work but:
- it does not shy away from the fact that our characters have sexual desires nor from depicting their attempts at fulfilling those desires;
- it does depict graphic violence;
- it does have characters who, both in dialogue and first-person narration, use profanity to express themselves;
- it does have characters with some pretty awful attitudes and opinions.
Political/Alternative History
Part II of the novel and the containing narrative of Part I are grounded firmly in the political, technological and physical realities of 1992. Thereafter, it becomes a political what if story – with echoes of the isekai and elements of the science fantasy of Part I driving the divergence of the timelines. But that’s Part II – nothing to do with Calmarendi.
Powers of two.
