Midsomer Norton once had two railway stations:
Great Western Railway (Bristol and North Somerset line). The station opened as Welton in 1873 before subsequently being renamed Welton and Midsomer Norton in 1898 and again Midsomer Norton and Welton in 1904. It closed to passengers in 1959 and to goods in 1964.
Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway. The station on this line opened as Midsomer Norton in 1874. It was subsequently renamed Midsomer Norton and Welton in 1898 and again Midsomer Norton South in 1949. Closed in 1966. Jennifer’s father was station master here for many years.
