Alexandra Rasanen: Princess of Eden
Introduction
By the time our story opens, Alexandra is not a young woman and has been Princess of Eden for far longer than might normally be considered decent. She is the longest serving of the six Princesses currently in office and the longest of any in recent history. Even by Edenese standards, she is seen as socially illiberal --- perhaps the reason for her retaining favour amongst the general populace --- while those in the Guilds and even many in her own Senate find her infuriatingly and increasingly difficult to have to deal with.
During her time in office, Alexandra has taken great interest in the prophesy of the Child of the Mountains; some might consider it to have become an obsession. She has set great personal store on it coming to pass during her time as Princess in the belief that a messianic Jenůfa would herald the dawn of a new Edenic Hegemony on Calmarendi.
Oh, Alexandra, have you never heard the phrase “be careful what you wish for”?
