Arch Mage Antaious Reldan
An isolated hut in the Ismali Mountains holds light in the darkness of night. The mountain it's situated on holds various deformities:scorch marks, strange protrusions and what can only be described as a sort of melting of the stone. The hut is filled with various noises: grunts, mechanical squeaks and furious scribbling, punctuated by the occasional bang or crash. "Huh, so that's how that works. Gotta write that down somewhere." The Arch Mage is at work.
Physical Description
It is commonly known that Arch Mages are branded as such due to them being born with an innate magical skill that they can tap into without use of spellcrafting. Arch Mage Reldan's power is believed to be teleportation
Mental characteristics
Reldan was self taught in the ways of spellcrafting, as he was one of the pioneers of the craft. He did, however, attend Derval University as a student for a brief period before becoming a teacher of spellcrafting there. However, when asked about this part of his life, he stated that he wasn't enrolled to learn, but rather to observe the students and teachers from a different perspective in order to improve his own teaching habits.
After three years of being enrolled in the academy, Reldan decided to quit his studies as a student in favor of teaching at Derval University. He did this after writing a lengthy article listing all the failures and misguidance's of his predecessor, the Professor of Spellcrafting and Magic Studies Terial Scrosbern. Shortly after this scar on his reputation, Scrosbern stepped down as Professor of Spellcrafting and took over teaching basic Spellwriting Theory, leaving Reldan to take his position. Reldan taught Spellcrafting in a different way than Scosbern, favoring active class activities and experiments rather than reading from textbooks. When Reldan was asked about why he changed the methodology of the class, he replied that when he was enrolled in Scosbern's class, he realized that many students, including himself, seemed to feel disengaged from the activity and were hardly interacting with the class. He felt that spellcrafting should be taught in a way that promoted feelings of interest and discovery. His students seemed to agree, and Reldan quickly gained favor among his students. Students when asked about Scosbern state that he is more suited to his current position, as his textbook methodology is a better match to a class about theory. After teaching for thirty-four years, Reldan retired from his teaching career due to a disagreement with the academy board.
Tutoring at Derval University, publication of "Laws and Guidelines of Spellcrafting: How to Change the World"
Highly inquisitive, always curious, and always learning, Reldan always enjoys an unstructured academic discussion.
Reldan's morals are centered around his belief that discovery and exploration of the self and the world is the meaning of life and the reason for existence. He believes that an education, self-teachings or academics, is the key to a higher sense of being. He believes that war is morally wrong, as it stamps out countless lives that could have otherwise learned and expanded other's learning. He believes that travel is a necessity for a meaningful life, as it allows one to expand their horizons. He believes that textbook, linear teachings are the destruction of inquisitive minds, and therefore disapproves of the practice.

History
The two met when Reldan was employed at Derval University. Brecken was a student of Reldan's, and the two would often discuss academic matters after classes had ended. The two had a mutual respect for each other: Reldan respected Brecken's tenacity, open-mindedness, and willingness to learn, while Brecken respected Reldan's knowledge and talent, as well as the fact that he was self-taught. One day, Reldan came to Brecken with a proposition. Reldan wished to release a book detailing the basics of spellcrafting. Because Reldan knew that he would have to retire someday, and that he wished to teach his students more advanced methodology rather than reiterating basic theory all the time, he figured a catch all solution would be to detail the basics of spellcraft in a manual, allowing students to come to him ready learn more advanced methodology, as well as making sure that if his successor were to revert to a textbook method of teaching, he would at least be able to help inspire students with a well written textbook rather than the old and boring methodology book, "Basic Spellcraft Theory". To do this, he would write a manual with a personal tone, adding in humor and witticisms to break up the monotony of reading, as well as adding in inspiring examples to the theory to make it more engaging and easy to understand. However, he also felt that the book could use some illustrations to help guide readers and break up the text. He knew that Brecken was a good artist, and also wanted to engage Brecken in an interesting project, as Brecken was one of his more engaged students. Brecken agreed to the task, and after two years the two released their work to the public: "The Laws and Guidelines of Spellcrafting: How to Change the World". Even after their stays at Derval University, the two remain good friends, occasionally meeting up to discuss their lives and matters of academics.

History
Reldan and Scosbern first met when Reldan was a student at Derval University. Scosbern was the current Professor of Spellcrafting and Magical Studies. Reldan realized that Scosbern's by the book method of teaching was making some students quit their pursuits out of boredom and lack of inspiration. To amend this, Reldan quit as a student at Derval, wrote a lengthy article attacking Scosbern's methodology, mentioning Scosbern by name, then assumed Scosbern's former position. This has led to a fair amount of bad blood between the two.
