Education
Reldan was self taught in the ways of spellcrafting, as he was one of the pioneers of the craft. He did, however, attend Derval University as a student for a brief period before becoming a teacher of spellcrafting there. However, when asked about this part of his life, he stated that he wasn't enrolled to learn, but rather to observe the students and teachers from a different perspective in order to improve his own teaching habits.
Employment
After three years of being enrolled in the academy, Reldan decided to quit his studies as a student in favor of teaching at Derval University. He did this after writing a lengthy article listing all the failures and misguidance's of his predecessor, the Professor of Spellcrafting and Magic Studies Terial Scrosbern. Shortly after this scar on his reputation, Scrosbern stepped down as Professor of Spellcrafting and took over teaching basic Spellwriting Theory, leaving Reldan to take his position. Reldan taught Spellcrafting in a different way than Scosbern, favoring active class activities and experiments rather than reading from textbooks. When Reldan was asked about why he changed the methodology of the class, he replied that when he was enrolled in Scosbern's class, he realized that many students, including himself, seemed to feel disengaged from the activity and were hardly interacting with the class. He felt that spellcrafting should be taught in a way that promoted feelings of interest and discovery. His students seemed to agree, and Reldan quickly gained favor among his students. Students when asked about Scosbern state that he is more suited to his current position, as his textbook methodology is a better match to a class about theory. After teaching for thirty-four years, Reldan retired from his teaching career due to a disagreement with the academy board.
