Religious Cult of the Great Maker Organization in Calandyrion - The Great Conjunction | World Anvil

Religious Cult of the Great Maker

The Great Maker has been posited by Sage School of Philosophy in the city of Smetium. The philosophers argue that there must have been a First Cause of creation, a Supreme Being: Omniscience, Omnipotent and Omnipresent, that began all other causes whose effects can be observed. It is pointed out that the existence known to the inhabitants of Calandyrion is not the only realm of existence. Other realms have been observed by those traveling through the Ether and Astral Realms to the realms of the numerous Heavens and Hells related to all the religions of this world. Great Maker exists in a dimension beyond all known realms. It is a dimension so vast that it exceeds the infinity of space, time, light and darkness, shadow and substance, far beyond sight and sound, science, superstition and imagination.

Structure

There is no highly structured hierarchy within the Cult of the Great Maker. If a druid or a cleric of any type should choose to venerate the Great Maker they may find that they have access to the positive and negative planes of magical energies that may be harnessed through ritual. However, there will never be any divine intervention by the Great Maker per se.

Public Agenda

The only agenda for the Cult of the Great Maker is to affirm that there is only one Creator of Reality above all the Gods created by man.

Assets

Members of the Cult do not accumulate wealth, property or possessions in honor of the Great Maker although they may do so for personal reasons.

History

The Cult of the Great Maker grew out of the philosophy of First Causes which was put forth about 150 years ago. The philosophical argument first put forth by Artitle and expanded upon by the philosophers Kata and Cuttlebark. Then 50 years ago a group of disillusioned scientists denounced all religion and created a backlash which brought forth a priest preaching that a Supreme Being was God Above All. It was from that point on that the Cult of the Great Maker developed but has, as of yet, remained a small group of disorganized followers. Most people of Calandyrion are only aware of the Great Maker by way of people swearing Great Maker in frustration or expectation while resolved to the fact that nothing is likely to come to fruition by imploring this being.
