Joseph Ybarra was a simple man, supportive and kind, and never one to seek power for himself. Throughout the reign of his wife, Sovereign Margaret Effron, he never balked at the chance to be out among the people and to get his hands dirty in the process. Often, he would be mistaken for a common laborer, as he was known to seek out opportunities to assist the people under their care in the best way he knew how, by using the skills he learned from his own family who were builders by trade. The quiet man was amicable and easily approachable, and it is said that he kept Margaret grounded during her reign.

Joseph was a man of the people. The son of a builder, he grew up in the streets of Armuun among the common people. It was by sheer chance that he met Margaret at all, though the chemistry between them could not be ignored.
During his time as the Prima Consort , he achieved a great many small things, and that is not to say small in regard to the impact they had, but that they were not heralded with great fanfare and he seldom sought or was given credit for the contributions he gave. He was not one to seek such things, and seemed to genuinely take tremendous pleasure in just being there to help those in need. In many ways, his actions have helped define the role of the Prima Consort far more than those that came before him through selfless action and his outward demeanor towards the people of the Empire.
