The Old Fort

Article Contents

Known as Dei Lahedkar (Literally "The Old Fortress") by the locals. The fort was said to actually be named Etger Nesokei Deramar, named after a regional governor of the time. This fortress was built in the year 400 before Exodus, or about 754 years ago. Its purpose was to protect the navigable channel of water going into Moonglow Bay. The main city around the bay, Amnuashor, was an important resting point for pilgrims on their way to the Temple of Sevi on the top of Mt. Blue Moon.

The fort was primarily constructed of Concrete, and Coquina, making it very effective at defending against the cannonfire of the time. Most Regalti nations has solid iron cannonballs that would sink into the walls, then fall off. The fort was successful in fending off attacks across several wars. The fort also made use of several large coral caverns just under the fortress. These caves had the water pumped out and were used to store ammunition and provide additional housing for soldiers stationed there.

During the War of Purges in the year 270 Before Exodus, the Tevari Empire used paratroopers to glide into the fort and take it over. Witht the fort captured, Tevari had control of Amnuashor and the Temple of Sevi. This, along with the capture of the Temple of Kellentar near the Edagatsra Volcano, effectively ended the ocean war between Vefaria and Tevari and gave Tevari control of all of the The Sunken Lands.

After the War ended, the city of Amnuashor was abandoned and the fort along with it. While the city was mostly deconstructed for building materials in other settlements, the fort was left alone. While it is half underwater now, the fort has eroded very little in the 600 years since. Anyone can swim over to the fort from Redsrei rather easily. The tall towers offer excellent points to dive from. If one is proficient with scuba diving, they can explore the underwater ruins and might even be able to make it to the now flooded coral caverns.
