Ministerium für Staatssicherheit

The Ministerium für Staatssicherheit has her Headquarters in Berlin, based in an large stone building. Everyone knows the building in Berlin and it is feared by everyone. It's made of depressing dark grey stones. The people that work there are know as the German Secret Police or Stasi (state security). The main task of the Secret Police is to make sure the state of Germany is secure. The Secret Police, or Stasi is known for its ruthless persuit of enemies of the state. Be it real enemies or perceived as enemies.

The activity is most focussed on enemy activity inside Germany. Recent developments have alerted the highest leaders inside the Ministery. Intelligence Reports have shown an increase in chatter between the United States of America and Germany. Especially between the director of Ceylon Family Business organisation and Diesel Kraftwerke.
This rises the suspicion that military secret information is going to the U.S.A. (Diesel is also building military vehicles.) The building also holds the private quarters and Main Office Branch of the Minister für Staatssicherheit.
The building is also feared by people becasue there are rumours that people disappear, never to be seen again. And we do not talk about a few people, but dozens.

Purpose / Function

The main purpose of this building is to instill fear, hold prisoners of the state, interrogation and planning operations and counter intelligence operations. There is two floors down a department on infomation gathering and collecting domestic and foreigh. The departmnent to orchestrate and manipulate false information dispersion. It also houses the ministerium or ministry that takes the main directive and orders of the government.

Alterations

initially this building was intended as prison. The world around Germany is getting more and more in turmoil and the prison was abandoned in favor of the Stasi. They needed a building that could withstand some punishment and violent behaviour from the public. the knew beforehand they would not be loved by the public.
They make the building look 'normal' from the outside, but a carefull look at the building shows fortified walls and doors.
Three floors down there are two elevators going down to underground railway stations. the third tube connects to the upper station, that is also very fortified and protected.

Architecture

The building is designed as a prison, has a very heavy foundation deep in the ground. It's made to keep people in and to keep people out. The construction is also made in such a way that it is defendable. The building was already very well build, the redesign and rebuilding of the building in 1890 was extensive.

History

from 1810 to 1890 this building was an actual prison.
in 1890 it was planed for decommision. The Stasi claimed it as their HQ and started to conduct their secret business operations.
