King Bernado Pretenera has ruled the large kingdom of Gelding Wood for the past thirty one years, following in the footsteps of his father, King Oristian II. Unlike his father, who pushed for war with Demacia to the south, King Bernado is seen as a just, peaceful, and fair ruler. He is known for taking his time to deliberate over matters before coming to a well thought through conclusion, and takes his responsibilities to the Kingdom very seriously. But should the need arise, he has shown he is not afraid to bring the might of the Gelding Wood Army to bear against any threat that needs it's attention. He himself is an excellent military commander and formidable combatant, having spent a number of years as Prince Regent in charge of the Household Cavalry, one of the most renowned cavalry units in the world, and the personal guard of the Royal Family of Gelding Wood.
Under King Bernado's rule, Gelding Wood has seen a period of significant increase to both prosperity and population. His close relations with the Legion of Progress has led to the ailing sanitation systems of many of the major settlements being completely overhauled, and the Kingdom's logging industries in the Western Reach have seen significant improvements. The military too has improved under his gaze, with some of the more permanent regiments beginning to be outfitted with gunpowder weaponry. He even led the purchase of a small number of airships from the Legion of Progress, and the construction of a dock in Sewit's Run to house them.
