Personal history
Teige is the oldest of the Calibridge children. He has been groomed for the leadership role since his birth. When his brother, Thaddeus was born, he was jealous because he no longer had their father's undivided love and attention. And their faither spoiled his brother but was rather stringy with his compliments to Teige.
Teige bullied Thaddeus heavily. When Thaddeus became a Priest and took a vow of celibacy, Teige saw this as an insult to the family and make Thaddeus's life even harder than before. Teige saw this as an affront and a disgrace to the family.
All of this anger built up in him and when leadership passed to him, there was no one to hold him back from what he could do to Thaddeus. This leads to the Bloody Chapel Incident.
