She was nursemaid to the Emperor/Empress of Cubria Empire's children until Anneke was born. She was horrified to be asked to dispose of a still living baby. She fell in love with the baby at first sight and ran off with her in the middle of the night, taking her to Nasomar in the Asqah Caliphate.
She was worried about being pursued but she still lived her life and raised Helene Hawke to the best of her abilities. She eventually found a husband willing to be a father to Helene Hawke. They had a good life together and raised 6 biological children alongside Helene Hawke.
When it was obvious that Fray Drift was limiting Helene Hawke, Anneke continued to care for her and ensured that there was at least one family member willing to take over the role of caregiver when the time came.
