The Wild

The Wild is in reference to the area in southeastern Ekix that was permanently changed do to magical experimentation gone wrong. The area used to be ruled by Sunów until 1605 when a mage testing the limits of transfiguration magic transposed an entire section of the world with another plane of existence. This altered the inhabitants and brought all new inhabitants from the other plane of existence. Out of the races brought over some include the dragon born, Kenku, Tabaxi, Orcs, Triton, an much more. The rapid influx of new races was hard to grasp for almost everyone. Most places still don't see them as equal in their cities and towns. The area of The Wild became much more lush, with a huge forest replacing the sparse woodlands that existed before it and a coral reef now glistening along the shoreline. The Wild was annexed into the Federation of Independent Cities in 1612.

Structure

The organization of the wild is drastically different that the rest of the country. The dragon born are the dominate species, governing all aspects of life in the region. The capital of Sorviodunum is run by a monarchical dynasty that spans almost two thousand years before the meltdown. Family of the monarchs are given territory to rule over as dukes and duchesses. Religion of the world has been adopted by the wild, as similar belief systems were in place before they had arrived.

Culture

The citizen have a wildly different culture than the rest of the country. Many of the citizen are inclined to protect nature and see the industrial complexes built by the west as tarnishing the world. This is only reinforced by the only reason that they exist in the world is due to the nature of those who encourage the industry. Most druid circles are founded and stay with the wilds borders. The loss of the world they know also had a toll on the now aging members of The Wild. Many wish they could return to their homeland, which lead to magic being accepted as a possible solution.

Public Agenda

The main goal of the region is to restore itself to its former state. This goal is being attempted through magic, science, and through the will of the gods. Although there are some who prefer the world to stay as it is, creating much conflict within its citizens. Those who want to stay want the wild the western philosophy of industry to better themselves in the situation they are in.

Assets

The wild contains the largest forest on the continent, causing it to be the largest source of lumber. The exotic coastal life also gives The Wild the largest source of pearls in the known world. The government has a conscripted army with close to a million soldiers, and a navy with about 200 ships.

History

Before being transfigured into the world, the kingdom of Sorviodunum was at constant war with neighboring nations. Invading nations took advantage of the diplomatic nature of the monarchs, which often lead to brutal conflicts. When the kingdom allied with near by orc village, the battles started to turn to their favor. The orcs had a battle prowess that the dragon born could not compete with, but the dragon born could craft armor and weapons that even the best of orcish smiths couldn't even dream of. Together they fought off the neighboring lands, and established themselves as a military and political power house. When the are was transfigured into the world of the Federation of Independent Cities it shocked most of, if not all of the citizens. Being removed from a world and being paced into another one was jarring even to the monarchy. After about a decade after the meltdown of Sunów, The Wild and the FIC came to an agreement and was annexed as part of the country.

Demography and Population

The population of The wild is mostly made up of dragon born, with orcs, and elfs following behind. Many other races exist, but are in increasingly small populations. Elfs are foreign to both lands, as they appeared after the explosion not because they were brought here, but as those who lived in the town of Sunów that were altered due to the intense magic. The large majority of citizens live in or near Sorviodunum, or its sister city Koro Dhoz.

Territories

The wild consists of Old and New Sunów, Kusso, Korgo Dhos, and Sorviodunum. These territories were what was brought with the land when it was transfigured.

Military

The monarchy uses conscripted forces that are chosen for duty upon birth. One in ten children are sent to either the army or navy parental centers at the age of four. From then they are raised to live and die for their country. Parental centers raise a child until they hit an adolescent age, they are then transferred to a one of three academies. The first of which is where those with the most physical strength and/or least mental aptitude, Grand Formations Academy where students are trained as the main military might for the region. For those who are mentally ahead of their piers, the Grand Officer Academy will be their result, where they will be trained to command the military force. Any of those rebellious sons are sent to the Espionage Academy, where the regions renowned spies are trained. After they make it through their training they will serve until they become old enough to become instructors themselves.

Technological Level

Other than in the large cities, western technology is non existent, with residents opting to use their magical knowledge to enhance their lives. Since magics have been known to The Wild before the transfiguration, is has developed in a very different way in comparison to the rest of the world. The Wilds knowledge of magics is deepest in the ways of manipulating nature, and benefiting from that manipulation. Contrasting with the FIC who uses the energy in the world to impose their will.

Religion

Outside of the big three religions of the rest of the world, druidic circles thrive in the dense woodlands of The Wild. These existed before the transfiguration of their homeland, and exist today as a remnant of where the region came from.

Agriculture & Industry

The Wild is renowned for their militias for hire, often being hired by private entities and governments for security. Lumber is the largest source of income for the region, as the forests are dense with many larger than life trees. Magic from the druids replenish the forests fast enough that lumber companies don't have to worry about over deforestation. Lumber is provided to every city, as it is used for construction, tools, wood burning furnaces, and much more. Farming and fishing are smaller industries in the region, with much of the produce from it staying inside it with exception to some rare fish that can only be found in that area.

Trade & Transport

Outside of the railway system that runs through Sorviodunum, that majority of good are moved on the stone paved roads that crisscross the region. The area is compact enough that running rails through it would bring too much of a headache than its worth. Those residing in he region also desire western technologies to be limited, in order to preserve the natural beauty that is there.

Education

Outside of military education many of the citizens are only educated in trades. It is often tradition for a child to learn the trade one of their parents with exception to military work. When training starts in early adolescents the child start learning the trade of the corresponding parent. The first born child is supposed to learn the fathers trade, and the second born learns the mothers. If there are more than two children, the cycle will continue between the two parents.

Infrastructure

The Wilds has roads used for trade and public use crisscrossed throughout the country, allowing for a person to walk from one side to another. Most cities and towns have some kind of natural or artificial wall protecting them from dangers. Major cities have electrical power, that runs water, machinery, lights, etc.
