Petri Character in Book of the Damned | World Anvil

Petri

No, I always knew I was on the wrong side. But that doesn’t really change shit when you’re a crooked cop. Look, I get it. We got bad blood; it was nothing personal.” - Petri to Roe
Petri is a lone werewolf that works as corrupted cop along with his partner, Langston. The two were recruited by Raum in hopes that they could help him successfully track down Sydero Theron.   Petri's first appearance is in episode one, No Good Deed, and plays a recurring role throughout the entire first season.

Personality

Unlike his much more laidback and amusing friend, Petri is straight forward and typically keeps a serious demeanor about him. The only time this slips is when he's with Langston, who seems to relax Petri. He's impatient and doesn't fall into peer pressure easily. If something isn't how Petri wants it, Petri moves on, seeing no reason to stick around.   Petri holds on to grudges and typically deals with emotions by drinking or acting out in violent ways. Seen in season two if Langston is killed and he's on his own. Whether wishing to track down Raum or Roe to kill them for what they did.

Personal history

A good deal of Petri's past is unknown, most of what is known is that he was once part of a pack but left because he didn't agree with pack life. He and Langston went to and graduated the academy together, becoming partners later and best friends. A bit more is learned about Petri depending on Roe's decisions in seasons one and two. If Petri is recruited to help Roe since Langston was sacrificed, he tells Roe that he's been on his own most of his life until joining the force, an action that he took knowing he was going to go crooked.

Season One

Petri is first seen when he arrives with Langston at Roe's place of employment, The Alley, asking them questions about Sydero's whereabouts and what they know. After taking the initial statement, he and his partner leave to tell Raum about what they learned. If Roe goes straight home instead of checking up on Sydero then Petri and Langston meet them at their apartment. After roughing them up, they force them in the car and drive to the address, telling Roe that they need to trick Sydero into coming outside so that they can capture her. This doesn't go according to plan and Roe and Sydero are able to make it out.   In Abandoned Petri and Langston kidnap Chris Richardson to lure out Roe, and inevitably Sydero. But again, miss Sydero when she gets Roe out of their and the two, or three, escape. Each time there on, Petri is typically seen with Langston at his side and Raum not far off, constantly trying to grab Sydero and Roe.   In Life Without Parole Petri forces Roe to eat a tracker in their food that later on leads to him bringing a group of demons to their safe house. As the group fights, he kidnaps Bradley Whittaker and leaves. Raum promises the gang that for each hour that they wait, Bradley will be tortured and Bradley later says that Petri had a hand in such torture. In the last episode of season one, Highway to Hell Petri responds to Roe differently depending on the fate of his best friend. If Roe killed Langston then Petri swears revenge, breaking Roe's arm in their fight. If Langston was sacrificed by Raum, Petri runs off. And if Langston is alive and well, the two of them fight.

Season Two

Petri turns up in the episode Unpredictability. Again, depending on Langston's fate, various things can happen to Petri and change his role in the episode. If Langston is dead or alive, Petri is still working for Raum and is overseeing the gateway and the hunt to find the guardian. Petri attacks on sight, leading Roe or Bradley to kill him. If Langston was sacrificed then Petri can either be allowed to go, where in he doesn't show up until the end to fight Raum, inevitably killing both of them. Petri can be recruited where he then helps the gang in finding the guardian, fighting Raum, and then he leaves afterward. Or, he can be killed by either Roe or Bradley.
