Personal history

Born to Hector and Vivien Roe, Roe only knew their mother due to their father dying before Roe's birth to unknown causes. It was not long before sickness also took Roe's mother when they turned six. In response, their uncle, Matheus Roe, adopts them. The bulk of their childhood is spent dealing with trauma and facing multiple issues while also and seeing multiple therapists who all turn them away due to believing that they are too much, and to fragile, to handle.   After graduating high school, Roe attends George Mason University and quickly befriends Chris Richardson. For their sophomore year, the two dorm together and for both junior and senior years, they get an apartment together. It is right before their upcoming graduation that Sydero Theron enters their life.

Mental Trauma

Most of Roe's trauma can be traced back to a single night, the night their mother died. Due to circumstance (will be explained below and spoilered), Roe has two different accounts of the day. Regardless of what they remember, their mother passed, setting Roe down a harsh path filled with bullying, negativity, and emotion and mental trauma that they never quite get over.

Depending on the player, Roe can have a different scar from their confrontation with the guardian spirit, this also changes how their mother died. It is later learned in Season Two through Michael that angels intervened the night of their mother's death, implanting an alternative memory to explain away their scar and how their mother died. The truth is the second account that Roe remembers through dreams, their mother dying while a spirit erases all evidence of her being there and capturing Roe for unknown reasons.

Season One

After finishing up a shift at their place of employment, The Alley, Roe finds an unconscious young woman lying on one of the paths. Worried that she might've been a victim to a crime, they take her to the hospital. Later on, the hospital calls Roe and asks for them to come by, hoping that the young woman will speak to Roe since she refuses to talk to anyone else. Roe does as they ask but finds themselves pulled into something bigger than they ever expected. Roe suddenly is being visited by cops who want to know about the young woman, and when they do meet back up with her, she tells them that the supernatural is real. Realizing that the supernatural cops probably know where Roe's uncle lives, Roe races back to the house and, depending on choices, can save their uncle or finds their uncle dead. After asking the woman to let them join her, and she accepts, Roe ventures out to learn more about the supernatural.
